Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
Welcome to 8th grade science! This will be an exciting year for all of us! You will grow tremendously, achieve at high levels, and have fun while you do this! Through hands on activities, field trips, experiments and projects, you will truly earn the title, "Best Science Students in the Universe"! This year you will be required to take the New York State Intermediate Science Examination (NYS ILSE). This examination will allow you a chance to demonstrate your mastery of science concepts you have learned from 5th through 8th grades. You will also complete an extended science project, otherwise known as an "Exit Project". This project will demonstrate your mastery of the scientific method, research and experimental design. (It will also show your readiness to move on to high school and beyond!) We will showcase your accomplishments when we hold our first annual Middle School Science Fair! The website you are currently visiting will serve as a way to keep open communication between students, family and teacher. You will be able to see what is expected of you (Syllabus), check for any missing or current assignments (Homework), and find helpful links that will direct you to further explore the topics that are introduced in class. So keep visiting this site frequently, and get ready to soar!
