Castle Project Update!
I know that you are all anxiously awaiting to find out the grade for the castle projects, but I am in the process of grading the final papers. I am very proud of all of the students for doing a wonderful job on their models. They are amazing and everyone has commented on how wonderful and how everyone did such an amazing job.
I have graded all of the different parts of the project, except for the papers and the oral presentations. I have been updating PowerSchool with the scores for each section of the project. If you would like to see each individual grade, please look on PowerSchool. If you have not gotten a login and or password, please call the front office and they would be more than happy to give you that information. I am planning on having everything graded and given back to the students by this Friday May 7, 2010. When the students get their papers back, it will have a breakdown of their grades for each individual part of the project. The students will have the copied paper because the originals are on display. This will give me the opportunity to write all over the copied paper with notes and not ruin the original copy.
We need to have the castles out of the library by NO LATER than Thursday May 6, 2010. This means that the students will be bringing their castles home in the next few days. If you want to keep the castles, please do so; however, if you didn’t want them, please let me know because I would like to keep a few for display for next year. (Meaning, if you student wanted to destroy it, please let me keep in at the school.) The students have put so much effort into the models, it would be a shame to have it not displayed somewhere throughout the school.
A BIG Thank You
I would like to end on this note: You should be proud of you as students and as parents for working so hard on this project. All of the hard work paid off and their models looked amazing! Coming into the classroom that week was amazing-seeing 45 castles all over the room was incredible! It was so much fun looking at the different types of castles, hearing about them, and seeing all of their different personalities through their models. They all did an amazing job in their oral presentations as well. I hope that they had a lot of fun, enjoyed it, and even learned something from it. Thank you so much for making this a wonderful project and great experience for everyone.
This Month’s Assignments
This month in Language Arts, we will still be working on building our vocabulary by doing spelling each week and spelling packets. Spelling packets are always due Friday, but if students are done, they are welcomed to turn it in. Spelling tests will always be on Friday, unless otherwise indicated. We are also going to be working throughout the month on reading poetry from their Literature books.
In Social Studies we will be ending the year with still learning about cultures around the world.
