Spanish Class Syllabus

  ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! Welcome to Spanish class! I am so excited that you are here! You have made a great choice and investment in your future by wanting to learn Spanish.  

Office hours:          

7:45-8:00 a.m. Monday-Friday         

3:20-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday         

*Lunch time by appointment only! 

I do have an open door policy which means that anytime between classes, before or after school that the door is open, you are welcome to stop in and speak with me. Likewise, your parents are welcome to call or email me with any questions or concerns.  

Rules and expectations:

1.     Show respect to others and property of others.

2.    Food and drinks will be allowed, so long as it does not create a disturbance to other students or interferes with your class work.

3.    Come to class prepared!

4.    No profanity in any language!

5.    No one for any reason is allowed behind the teacher’s desk! 

Communication is key!

If you are absent for any reason, please communicate with myself and your classmates or refer to your semester schedule.  You may email me with any questions that you or your parents may have at cbenitez@sbps.net  

*Note: If a student is absent, he/she will be expected to make up all the work that they missed. It is your responsibility, not the teacher’s, to find out what you missed.  You may ask before or after class/school, NOT during class! (Refer to the Student Handbook page 20) 

Grade Components:  Grades are based on the percentage of possible points earned by the students.   

Final Exam                           10%

Mid-term Exam                   10%

Daily Assignments            40%*

Projects & Presentations     20%

Tests & Quizzes                  20% 

RetakesStudents will be able to retake regular tests and quizzes after school ONLY (unless other arrangements have been made).  You will always receive the highest grade earned. 

Late Assignments: 

ü  Full credit-due at the beginning of class

ü  75% maximum credit – turned in during class or 1 day late

ü  50% maximum credit – turned in after one week late

ü  25% maximum credit – turned in after a month late   

Emergencies: Students with special circumstances must talk to the teacher as soon as possible, not right before the bell rings or during class.
