I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than 25 years, working with children of all ages and developmental abilities and challenges. I have been a School Counselor for the DCIU since 2005. This is a profession that I truly love and feel grateful for this journey every day. It is my hope, that I am able to help empower others to be kind and compassionate-especially to oneself, face life's challenges with perseverance and hope, and live a life with gratitude.
I also have the privilege to be a team leader for a school-based Crisis & Response Team in the county, a co-facilitator for a professional learning community for school counselors, and a co-creator and co-trainer for workshops on Self-Care in the community. In 2016, I was honored to receive an "Excellence in Teaching" award by the DCIU for Service to the Community. I am passionate about helping others live a healthy, positive and balanced life and to be recognized for something that brings me joy is a gift that I will always treasure.
A little more about me … I love yoga and practice daily, and I am certified to teach yoga and mindfulness to children. By sharing mindfulness and breathing techniques to my students, I hope to ensure a more peaceful environment in our schools. I also love to run and to be active and feel it is necessary to teach children the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle. I have been an avid user and believer of Essential Oils for over a decade and find the natural benefits of oils to be a wonderful resource. I absolutely LOVE to travel!!! I love learning about new cultures, traditions, and meeting people from all over the world. I believe we are all connected and nothing shows that more when you’re in a foreign land and exchange a smile with a stranger. I love summer and spending time outside in the warmth and sunshine. I love the beach, palm trees, the ocean, music, chocolate, and quotes. What I cherish most is spending time with my husband and beloved dog, Bella, my family and friends, and living life with kindness and gratitude. I know I am blessed to have all that I have.
