  • Banks (Financial Literacy)
  • Libraries (DEAR!)
  • Colleges (Preparing today for tomorrow)

I'm hoping this experience is an opportunity to advance skillsets in technology and create independent learners.  The worldwide view on education embraces 21st century resources with a span on elearning.  This both prepares the learner of online expectations, time management and a sense of community that keeps us all connected from support of all parties.

The resources for the class are for SAP (Spelling and Phonics), ELA (English / Language Arts, Math, Balanced Literacy, Science, Social Studies, Bible, and Technology.  The weekly lessons, although presented via using elearning tools and resources is in an online format that requires commitment and flexibility from all parties.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

The seven habits of highly effective people:

  • Habits 1, 2, and 3
    • self-mastery
    • moving from dependence to independence.
  • Habits 4, 5, and 6
    • developing teamwork,
    • collaboration
    • communication skills
    • moving from independence to interdependence.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

  1. Be proactive
  2. Begin with the end in mind
  3. Put first things first
  4. Think win/win
  5. Seek first to understand then be understood
  6. Synergize
  7. Sharpen the saw

The Five Big Ideas

  1. Proactive people work on the things they can do something about.
  2. Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.
  3. A paradigm is a way to “see” the world.
  4. We see the world, not as it is, but as we are conditioned to “see” it.
  5. To make relatively minor changes in your life, focus on your attitudes and behaviors. To make significant, quantum change, work on your basic paradigms.

Begin with the end in mind

Journaling - Writing

Journals must be neat and able to be read, if you choose the option to write, copy, and text,   Otherwise you can use google docs, Word Pad, or Microsoft Word to edit and post your journal on padlet

Remember, if you are writing your journals, use

  • finger spaces between words,
  • space between lines and
  • check your grammar.  - Check your sentences for correct uppercase and lowercase letters, spelling, and punctuation.

You can call (919) 323 - 2722, if you have questions and / or need help.  The elearning links are listed below for MobyMax or Reading A - Z?  I will post weekly assignments Nightly by 9:00 pm.

You can even  c o m b i n e   the options. (copy your drawing and text them and post your journals to padlet)laugh

Grading Procedures

Please, remember to complete and post assignments by 12:00 daily.   Checking all assignments online will be timely.  Everyone's support is crucial, as we manuever through this process.

If your student is unable to complete his / her daily assignments, please have them complete all coursework by Thursday.  We normally do Student Check-In's on Wed. / Thurs. to check assignment status.  Thursday is normally a make-up work day to guarantee weekly assignment completion instead of sendig work home to be completed.

Students work at different paces.  Please, be patient with your student.  Please allow for breaks, if needed.  As everyone is confined inside and limited to outings, our patience may be tested.  Separation is vital during this time - everyone needs some alone time.

Student Postings will serve as a completed grade assignment.  MobyMax will serve as a test grades, as usual.  MobyMax assignments will be posed starting April 5.  Please, have your student complete MobyMax assignments occording to their assigned date starting after April 6, 2020.  Often times, students have the tendency to do the Fluency Games, ... and not the assignments instructed.

Remember MobyMax grades are posted.  If a student does not complete his / her assignment in MobyMax, I have no grade to post.  These grades will be required on their assigned date.

  • Post Assignments and Journals
    • You will submit each days journal.  Post under the appropriate topic to the right of the page.   Title - Your name and date (Jim Walker - March 18, 2020).  You can also write it, copy it, and text it to me. - flexibility is needed on all parts.  Which ever is more convenient for both the student and parent is okay with me.

Weekly Lesson Plans (Assignments)

A few of the K2 families have not signed onto zoom or submitted their assignments.  I will be posting grades on Monday morning.  Please refer to the instructions below to access the assignment page.

The objective is to acquaint you and your student with the structure and process for the online environment.  This portal will serve as a communication tool to deliver all classroom information.  If our home stay is EXTENDED PAST SPRING BACK, we will resume with the weekly lesson plan link on this page
