Ripopée: Burlington Performing Arts Centre

Grades: Grades 3-6

Time: Performance is from 12:30-1:30pm (bus pick up at 12:00pm)

Location: Burlington Performing Arts Centre: 440 Locust Street, Burlington 

Uniform: Dress Uniform is required.

Snacks: Snacks are not permitted in the theatre. Students will eat lunch upon arrival back to school.

Curriculum Connections: Ripopée is a hilarious clownish tale that sees imaginations run wild and audiences of all ages crying with laughter. Four artists arrive at the theatre at night and fall asleep on stage, only to discover upon waking that their audience has already arrived! The show begins, but things get all mixed up, forcing the artists down new and unpredictable paths. Since 1974, L’aubergine has presented over 50 innovative and award-winning clown shows and are one of Canada’s oldest theatre companies dedicated to family and children’s entertainment.

Time: Concert will take place from 12:00-1:00pm (students will eat prior to and upon arrival from the field trip; food is not permitted in the concert hall)

Location: Roy Thomson Hall: 60 Simcoe Street, Toronto ON

Grades: 6-8

Dress Code: Dress Uniform is required for this field trip

Content & Curriculum Connections: 

The VOCA Chorus of Toronto, now in its 33rd season, is a dynamic ensemble which has been under the leadership of Jenny Crober since 2004. In collaboration with a wide variety of superb guest artists, VOCA has performed a vast range of repertoire, including the 2018 Canadian premiere of Dreamweaver, a major work for choir and orchestra by one of the world's most prominent choral composers, Ola Gjeilo.

This concert will feature an eclectic mix of selections celebrating stars and the night sky, including a world premiere by the renowned Cree composer, Andrew Balfour.

The concert features connections to World Music Studies, the instrumental program as well as musical composers.
