Taking correct measurements is one of the most important steps in making a custom-made dress. ... When the body measurements are accurate, the garments can be fit. A well-fitted garment can enhance not only the look of the person but also the personality.



At the end of the lesson, the students expected to:

1. Identify the different parts of the body that need to be measured;

2. Adhere the step and ways in taking body measurements;

3. Practice on how to take the body measurements.


Content: Taking body measurements and how to properly measure a body for correct pattern fit.


Materials: tape measure, pictures, charts, pencil



A.) Daily Routine


1. Prayer/Greetings/Introduction

2. Checking of Attendance

3. Review of the previous lesson/topic

4. Motivation:

A. Label some of the body measurements need to be measured.

B.) What are sewing tools and equipment?

5. Discussion of the body correctly for proper fit.

6. Ask 2 or 3 students to demonstrate the proper body measurements. 

7. Ask Students, what they learned about the discussion.

8. Assignment



In order to assess and evaluate the leaning of student, I'll give a short quiz regarding our lesson.

Summary: Students will learn how to measure the body correctly for proper fit. Students will observe how to properly measure a body for correct pattern fit, and then they will perform measurements on themselves and a partner. Students will also alter pattern pieces by adding and shortening lengths.
