I'm Mrs. Guerrero and I'm an RSP teacher at David A. Brown. As a resource teacher I co-teach in core classes that my students are in. My caseload varies from 6th to 8th grade. Currently I co-teach in a 7th grade and 8th grade language arts. I teach my own 8th grade specialized academic insturction (SAI) class as well as my own study skills class. In our SAI class we focus on basic skills each student needs as well as common core standards. We take everything at a slower pace to make sure the students have an understanding of it. SAI classes are smaller classes thus, give us the oportunity to have more one on one time with our students.
Teaching is rewarding career, I teach because I want to make a difference in my student's lives. Working in a middle school you work with students who are beginning to find their identity. It's a tough time for a lot of them but I aspire to leave a positive mark in this part of their life. I hope that one day they look back and remember that I actually did care about their future and that my constant stress to get them to do work wasn't only because it was my job but because I knew what was in store for them.
