Historical Me

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year!  This is your first year at MMS, and I hope it will be as exciting as you hoped it would be when you found out you passed 4th grade.  I am so happy to be your teacher.  This is the first year I will be working with a website, and I am very excited to be doing so.

Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself.  I have been a teacher at Montegut Middle for nearly 13 years.  Most of that time was spent as a fifth grade teacher, and this is my third year teaching Social Studies, absolutely the best subject EVER!  I am married, and I have five children, two of them were even students over here at one time.  I graduated high school at South Terrebonne, and went to Nichols in order to learn how to become a teacher, and hope to go back there one day to improve my knowledge and become an astronaut, but for the moment, I am happy to be here teaching YOU!

There are many exciting things I cannot wait to teach you this year.  We will be starting with a quick review of the continents and oceans, the great land bridge crossover, and head into central and south America to visit Ancient Civilizations.  That is just the beginning...our journeys will eventually take us to Spain, Italy, and even way over to Africa and Asia.

You will be expected to do many things in my classroom.  The first, and most important, is to work at 100 %.  Throughout the year, you will be working in groups, with partners, or solo.  When at home, you may be working on short homework assignments or projects that will increase your learning.  Everything we do in the classroom is done in order to make sure you are at your personal best.

This website will be used as a classroom "extra."  While the information in here will be kept as accurate and updated as possible, the assignment board in the classroom will be 100 percent accurate, so be sure to get what you need when you are there.

I am expecting an amazing and wonderful year.  By working together, we can get this done!
