My Professional Experience
This is my first year as a teacher in a classroom.
I have taught swimming lessons to this age group for four years.
As a volunteer, I have led a Pack of Cub Scouts ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade for 4 years.
I have four children. The youngest is seven. I learned so much from them as they passed through this learning age.
My real education in teaching young children came from my mother. As the oldest of six, I had the opportunity to watch as my mother guided four of my siblings through this age. As she did, although not in a school, she taught numerous neighborhood children as a primary daytime caregiver, while their parents went to work. This provided me the experience of seeing first hand how many strategies need to be tried and retried and modified and retried, until you find something that works.
