Mrs. Mikula - Fredonia Middle School TESOL 5-8

About Me

My name is Julie Mikula and I have been teaching in the Fredonia Central School District since 2003.  I began my teaching career by working in the high school, teaching mathematics.  I then worked an additional 6 years teaching mathematics in the middle school and high school.  In 2010, my husband and I were blessed to welcome a baby girl into our family.  When it was time to return to work, I struggled with leaving my newborn to come back to teaching.  I was given the opportunity to return as a half-time TESOL teacher.  After a month, the position turned into full-time, but I absolutely loved the new field I was in and I really enjoyed working with the diverse students in both the middle and high school.  In 2012, my family was fortunate once again to welcome another baby girl into our family.  I returned to full-time teaching again this fall, working solely with 5-8 TESOL students.

This year, we have many new TESOL students in the district.  It is exciting to welcome students from various countries such as Puerto Rico, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.  Each student helps to add diversity to the classroom, which is a great opportunity for all students and teachers to learn different languages and customs!

Below is a list of topics that we will cover this year.  As time goes on, we may add or modify different items in order to meet the individual needs and language acquisition of each student.
