ESE Tips for Parents

Meetings, called staffings, are scheduled by the ESE Specialist for a number of purposes; to generate a new Individualized Education Plan (IEP), review a current IEP, or to address eligibility issues. Meetings can also be requested by parents but a "staffing " may not be needed. If you would like to address issues regarding classroom function, homework issues, grades, or things of this nature, then a parent-teacher conference may be sufficient. Issues having to do with ESE services, progress on IEP goals or evaluation require a staffing. This list is by no means all inclusive and if you are not sure of the best way to address concerns just give me a call or an email and we can figure it out together.

Staffings are generally held at either 7:30am or 2:15pm to avoid pulling a teacher out of the classroom and mssing instructional time. However, there are times when exceptions need to be made to allow for scheduling conflicts, parents' work schedules or itinerant schedules. If you have a preference for am or pm just let me know.

Transportation issues? I am your school liason, as is our assistant principal, Mr. Suarez. Please keep in mind that we put in requests and changes however the district transportation departmjent does all scheduling. Requests/changes can take 10 school days to take effect. If your child wears a safety harness, please keep it in the backpack. A missing harness is hard and expensive to replace and we do not have any at the school as they are monitored by transportation.
