What is netiquette?

Netiquette is the rules that apply when one is communicating over computer networks, especially the Internet. This is the acceptable way when using the internet.

  3. Participate regularly
  4. Repeat names
  5. Look for opportunities to help
  6. Use conversational tone
  7. Employ correct spelling & grammar
  8. Include http:// for a link
  9. Be authentic, friendly, & interesting
  10. Ask open-ended questions
  11. Mind your manners
  12. Be sociable
  13. Use hashtags where appropriate
  14. Research groups/blogs where you can post a comment and a link back to your blog

  1. Blatantly advertise.
  2. Say things you don’t want repeated
  3. Be narcissistic – no one likes a ‘me’ person
  4. Be negative
  5. Be confrontational or controversial
  6. Swear or cuss
  7. Use ALL CAPS
  8. Talk about religion, sex and politics
  9. Drop the ball – always follow up!
  10. Spam
  11. Plagiarize
  12. Use Texting language
  13. Be an egg head
