Read to Succeed is a reading program designed to help build your child's fluency and comprehension. Fluency is the ability to read accurately and with expression. Comprehension is the ability to understand what you have read. Your child will be expected to read for a minimum of 15 minutes each night. Both of these programs are being intertwined to allow students to be the most successful. Follow the steps below to ensure success:
Step 1: Sit with two to five books in a quiet area.
Step 2: Read consecutively for fifteen minutes. NO INTERRUPTIONS!
Step 3: Choose ONE book and discuss it thoroughly (i.e. characters, setting, sequence of events, etc.).
Step 4: The next day your child should take an AR test on the computer in the classroom if s/he comprehended the book read.
