If you love language, or work within this area, then the Language Show is a must-visit. It is the premier exhibition for language learners, teachers and language enthusiasts, from have-a-go hobbyists to wannabe academics. Quite simply, it is open to all, and free to attend in addition.
Now in its 31st year, The Language Show is Europe’s largest language event, encompassing talks, features, and also language classes. It takes place in Olympia, London over the weekend beginning the 15th, in November.
For those who don’t live in the city, travel and accommodation need to be arranged in advance. Trains can be booked via National Rail Enquiries, and coaches via National Express and Megabus. You can of course travel by car but there is a congestion charge as well as tax which now needs to be paid for entering the centre of London.
In terms of accommodation, there is plenty to choose from, including hotels, houses, and apartments. You can also book hotels by the hour in London with daybreakhotels.com, allowing you an hour or two of rest during the day or after you are done and before you head out for your evening meal - this is a very cost effective option and a great way to keep your energy up and maximise the enjoyment of your day.
The upcoming Language Show promises to offer all the latest language-related resources and products, all geared towards making learning fun, easy, and enjoyable.
In total, there will be:
over 100 talks, classes and seminars
100 stand exhibitors
taster classes in around 20 languages
a dedicated weekend programme for language teachers
music and dance
free admission, talks and classes
As well as this, the event will bring new tools, resources, and technology into the limelight; will offer tips and tools for schools, including those pr
oviding distance learning; share info on the best ways to learn a language; offer careers advice for fluent language speakers.
Book publishers and online providers of language classes and tools will also find much information and insight for themselves and their businesses,
too, making this as much an event for those creating the market as those who are consumers within it.
The times and dates of this event are:
Friday, 15th November: 10am - 6pm
Saturday, 16th November: 10am - 6pm
Sunday, 17th November: 10am-5pm.
You can register in advance for the Language Show via Eventbrite.
