This particular page will discuss my grading policy as it applies to our ELA class. The reason I feel that this page is important is because I want each of you to know exactly how you will be graded. I don't want there to be any surprises in my classroom, so here is the grading breakdown:
Other (projects, group work, written assignments): 20%
As you can see, I try to weigh each assessment as equally as possible. The reason I chose to create my grading policy this way was because I don't want one poor grade to affect a student's entire average. By giving a wide variety of assignments and assessments, I feel that each student has the ability to succeed in ELA. Also, as previously mentioned on my classroom expectations page, I will allow my students to redo assignments as many times as they'd like until they reach the desired grade. I am a firm believer that making mistakes is a part of life, and the only way we can learn from those mistakes is to correct them.
