Hello! Welcome to my class!
My name is Melina Bricker, and I am so excited for this upcoming school year. I know that your 5th grade student is going to have a great year. I just wanted to write a quick letter to introduce myself.
This is going to be my first year of teaching. I graduated from Furman University this past spring with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. This past summer, I started graduate school, also at Furman University, and I am pursuing my Master of Arts in Special Education with a focus on Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. Even though this is my first year teaching, I am very knowledgeable about Spartanburg District 6 and the 5th grade curriculum and expectations. This past year I completed my student teaching down the road at Fairforest Elementary School in one of the 5th grade classrooms. I was with my 5th grade class from the first day of school until the last day. During the spring, I taught my students for seven weeks on my own. Through Furman's education program, I have a lot of experience within the classroom. I have been volunteering and teaching in classrooms for the past four years.
I am energetic and love teaching. My goal is to have every student grow as a learner and an individual. I also hope to instill my love of learning within my students. Fifth grade is a crucial year because it right before middle school. Another goal is to prepare my students for this transition to middle school.
I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. I already know that we are going to have one of the best years. I look forward to watching your students learn and grow over the next nine months. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
