In our classroom, we have each filled out a “Getting to Know You” survey, and I have already learned so much about the students that make up our class! I have learned what kinds of food everyone likes, doesn’t like, and is allergic to, as well as what kinds of pets our students have, what music is most popular, and what everyone’s favorite color is. We even made a table to show you (the parents/ guardians) what sports teams are liked the most. We hope you like it!
In all four of the 4th grade classrooms, the teachers have collaborated over the summer to create lessons that will all follow the same basic outlines for each subject. We chose to do this both for ourselves as a team and, more importantly, for the students. We wanted to follow the same units at the same time so that any student who ever needs to be switched to another class during the school year, or who needs to stay with a different class for the day will not be confused with the curriculum as much as if each teacher followed the curriculum differently. I know that each of us in the 4th grade team has his/ her own teaching style, and may need to spend different amounts of time on material depending on his/ her own class, but I know that this will help everyone out in the long run. Our 4th grade team meets on a weekly basis to collaborate ideas, problem solve, and to check in on one another to see how the students are handling the different content areas. If you ever want to meet with any or all of us, the contact information is listed below. We’re looking forward to a great year!
