Blessed Holy Thursday!

We have made it to the end of our first week of virtual learning!  I am so proud of you all for all of the hard work and effort that you have put into learning and navigating through our Brightspace and Google virtual classrooms!  Our goal this week has been to get to know our virtual learning environment and to become more comfortable using it.  Keep up the awesome work! :)

Today is Holy Thursday, the first day of the Holy Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter).  This is the most sacred time in our Church year and a very special time for Christians all over the world.  Things are very different this year, because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, but we cannot forget the incredible sacrifice that Jesus made for us when he died and resurrected, so that our sins could be forgiven.  Today, our work will all connect to Jesus's Passion and to the upcoming celebration of Easter this weekend! Enjoy the activities and don't forget, our Premier Doug Ford has declared that the Easter Bunny is an Essential Service so he will definitely be delivering eggs and chocolates on Easter morning! :

Don't forget to attend the Holy Week liturgies and Easter Mass virtually.  Many parishes are streaming them live this year including    St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica in Toronto.  Click on this link to see their Holy Week schedule and to see the mass and liturgies live:

St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica Holy Week Schedule and Live Stream

A very blessed Easter weekend to you and your families!  Enjoy your Easter weekend with your families-we will see you back in our virtual classroom on Tuesday, April 14th!

Ms. Ricardo :)

The following message was emailed to all of my students' parents yesterday, using the email addresses that the school has on file:

Dear Parent(s)/ Guardian(s),

I hope that you and your family are safe and well.

Now that our Minister of Education Lecce, has formally announced the extension of the COVID-19 school closures and the beginning of Phase 2 of Learn at Home, I personally wanted to reach out to you and let you know that as of Monday, April 6th, 2020, our class will be navigating our learning using our GOOGLE Classroom as the starting point of our virtual learning each day.  GOOGLE Classroom has been a virtual platform that your child has accessed and used throughout the year in my class.

Students can login from home with their Dufferin-Peel student email (studentnumber@dpcdsb.org) and the same password that they use at school.  Further instructions and other relevant information on virtual learning resources, tools and platforms, that we will be using in the coming weeks and that will support your child’s learning at home, are all available on our Class Website: http://www.marylisaricardo.educatorpages.com

To ensure that we are all protected within the Dufferin-Peel community server during our virtual learning interactions/communication, please remind your child to always login to GOOGLE classroom from the Dufferin-Peel website Students Page: https://students.dpcdsb.org/

Students are able to communicate with me and ask me questions through our virtual learning environment, by sending me a private message/email.  To support students in taking more ownership for their learning and to continue developing their self-advocacy skills, please encourage your child to do this.  Future information and details as well as all future communication will be posted in our virtual learning environment and on our Class website.

My prayers are with you and your family,

Ms. M. L. Ricardo
