Hello! My name is Marie Scott and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am very excited about spending the year with your students and I know we're going to accomplish a lot together.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from San Jose State University in 2005, and my California State Teaching Credential and Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Bethany University in 2011.
Philosophy of Teaching
I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I have such a heart to see kids develop a lifelong love of learning. My classroom is interactive, collaborative and exciting! I believe that the more hands-on experiences children can be exposed to, the greater their capacity to learn will be. I also believe in making curriculum accessible to all students, regardless of learning style, primary language or developmental need.
Before beginning graduate school, I taught for two years at a small private school where I also directed the after-school care program. During grad school I spent a lot of time in three different elementary classrooms during my field experience and student teaching courses. I have also worked with children in the following capacities: Leading week-long camps, and school presentations for children in developing countries; teaching weekly classes to small groups; tutoring children; providing basic needs and fun activities for children affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; directing children's choirs, and much more.
I recently ventured across country to move to the East Coast. I love traveling to new places and going on "mini-adventures." I enjoy spending time visiting museums, art galleries, historical sites and cultural events. I love to cook for my family and friends, and in my down-time, you can find me reading a good book or knitting a scarf.
