About Me

Ms. Milton comes from a long line of proud educators who are all Florida natives.  Her father Otis Jr. who hails from North Florida taught mathematics before becoming an Electrical Engineer at NASA's Kennedy Space Center; her oldest brother Al is a guidance counselor at a high school in South Florida's Broward County, and her older brother Otis III is an administrator at a middle school in Central Florida's Orange County.  Her father and brothers served as her role models to keep education in the Milton Family bloodline.

Therefore, shortly after graduating from Melbourne High School with honors, she attended Rollins College where she majored in English and minored in Secondary Education, and ultimately graduated as Valedictorian of her class.

Ms. Milton subsequently began her graduate studies in English/Language Arts Education at the University of Central Florida.  Later that fall in 1999, she began her first year of teaching senior and freshman English at Eau Gallie High School--where she eventually served as the school's Writing Contact and would teach for seven years.

While completing her Master's degree, Ms. Milton became a National Writing Project Consultant, coordinating teacher workshops and student writing camps under the auspices of the University of Central Florida and Bethune-Cookman University. Upon earning her M.Ed., Ms. Milton took on the task of becoming a National Board Certified teacher.

In 2006 Ms. Milton transferred to Viera High School, becoming part of its inaugural faculty.  She has taught several subjects, and has served in various departments.  Essentially, she has been a loyal HAWK ever since.  In May 2017 Ms. Milton became the Faculty Advisor of the Beverly Diane Best Chapter of our school's National English Honor Society, in which she facilitates her members to live up to the Old English motto: "Gelast sceal mid are, " or "Duty goes with Honor." Paramount of all, Ms. Milton is a friend of Hello Kitty, a girl from London--not a cat, for life!
