Top 5 Best Tearjerker Films

There is nothing like a really great drama to get the waterworks going. There are only a limited number of movies that have actually made me cry (watched for free on 123movies new site) and here they are:

1.) Steel Magnolias

I cannot watch this movie without bawling like a baby at the end. I think what makes it so sad is that it could happen to anyone. My sister has numerous health problems right now, and knowing that you could lose someone you love to a horrible illness at such a young age is heartbreaking. Sally Field gave an amazing performance as the stubborn grief stricken mother. I also think that Julia Roberts gave one of her best performances as the equally stubborn, terminally ill daughter.

2.) My Girl

I think the biggest thing about this movie that got me was the fact that it was a child that dies. Watching Veda break down at her best friends funeral in front of his open casket had me sobbing in my pillow. I won't even try to watch the ending of this movie again.

3.) Beaches

I think everyone who has seen this movie will probably agree that the ending was a tear- jerker, especially if its the first time you've seen it. For those of us who are lucky enough to be as close to someone as these two women were to each other, this movie is especially sad. It's hard not to picture your own best friend in this situation, which makes it all the more sad to watch.

4.) My Life

This was one of Michael Keaton's best performances and one of his most touching. As a dying man making a video of everything that he wants to teach his unborn son before he dies, this movie is a definite sob fest. You want him to survive but know that he won't. Knowing that his son will only get to know him through the tape that he's making makes this movie hard to watch all the way through.

5.) Imitation of Life

My mother made me watch this movie about 5 years ago even though she knew I wasn't really into old movies. She knew of course what was coming at the end and wanted to see how I would react to it. For those of you who have seen this movie, you probably know my reaction. I cried like a baby and still do every time I watch it. It's hard to watch movies where the person in the film loses their mother, and this one was no exception. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys curling up on the couch with a box of tissues.

Some other great tear-jerkers that are worth noting are Titanic, The Mighty, Ghost, Dying Young, Stepmom, Boys on the Side and Finding Neverland.
