About the Teacher

Hi, my Name is Michael Tancredi.  This is my first year teaching at Sandy Run Middle School and my seventh year of teaching.  I began my career in the School District of Philadelphia.  While in Philadelphia, I spent two very long years teaching Kindergarten.  After my Kindergarten days, I spent a year as long term substitute, teaching fourth grade for a teacher on maternity leave.  I loved fourth grade, but alas, it was to be short lived.  Once again on the move, I spent three years teaching computer science.  First in another Philadelphia K-8 elementary school, then at an Archdiocese of Philadelphia K-8 elementary school.  Teaching computer science and technology was truly a rewarding experience.  I loved the excitement the children brought with them to class, and the ease at which they had with technolgy and technology related activities.  Although, I loved the role of the specialist teacher, I longed to get back to the daily interactions with the children I had experienced as a fourth grade teacher.  Enter Sandy Run Middle School and the 2007-2008 school year.  I feel priveledged to work in a such a top school district and teach the wonderful children of Upper Dublin.

As for my education, I currently possess a B.S. degree in Business from Chestnut Hill College.  I  have also earned a M.S. in Elementary Education, again from Chestnut Hill College.  I am a Pennsylvania certified in grades K-6 as an elemntary school teacher.  I also have a K-12 certification in Business Education/Computer Science.  Recently, I have begun an Educational Technology degree progam.

On the personal side, I am maried for 21 years to mife wife, Christina.  Chris works in the music industry, (be sure to listen to Music Choice on Comcast Digital Cable).  We have two sons.  Kevin is 16 and a sophmore at Hatboro-Horsham HS.  Ryan is 14 and in the 8th grade at Keith Valley Middle School.  We are all avid skier/snowboarders.  Each summer, we love hiking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains  and boating in Lake Tahoe.
