Pre-Algebra Honors, Grade 7
Greetings! I have lived in the Sunshine State for over fourteen years now. However, I will always be a New Yorker--go Yankees! In NY, I grew up on Long Island, lived for seven years in the gorgeous Catskills Moutains and then another five in the wonderful, but wintery, city of Syracuse. I earned a Bachelor's degree in English from Bucknell University and 42 graduate credits in Education from Long Island University. I am certified in Elementary Education (K-6) and Secondary Math (6-12) and have my Gifted (K-12) and ESOL (K-12) endorsements.
After several years teaching 4th grade, I was starting to get a complex about being left back so much! So, I decided to go back to my teaching roots--in math! I really enjoyed diving back into math and having some of my old students back again. I truly love my job and get up every morning happy to come to school. I am a complete math geek and am so excited to be teaching it! Before my life as a teacher, I worked as a college career counselor, wrote two books for kids on using the Internet and was fortunate to spend over ten years as a stay-at-home mom.
Outside of school, my best time is spent with my family. My daughter, Victoria, graduated from Pine View in June 2016--it doesn't seem possible. She attends Florida Southern College, where she studies finance and economics. She is studying abroad in London for the fall semester and will graduate in May! Rounding out our family is my husband and two loving cats--Prissy and Polo. Prissy is beautiful, but shy. Polo is an overgrown kitten and quite naughty. He provides some pretty funny stories. Away from our class, you'll find me enjoying Mr. Cangero's delicious cooking, playing Scrabble or trivia, singing karaoke and reading. That's if I find a little spare time, of course!
Looking forward to a great year!
