About Me

My name is Dana Gibson and I am happy to be teaching  your little ones here at Boyette Springs Elementary.

I am a certified teacher and have been in the field of education since 1995. I have experience teaching Reading Recovery, Accelerated Literacy Learning, first grade, and have been a reading resource teacher for PreK-6th. I have taken Masters level classes in the area of reading education.

I also have 3 children of my own ages 7, 9, and 12. I was a stay at home mom for 10 years. This is my second year back teaching and I feel the time away as a mom has allowed me to develop patience and a strong belief that all children can learn and all children have different needs. It is my job to meet those needs. Your children will have responsibilites as well and we will talk about that later. I have experience teaching in public school, private school, and have also experienced homeschooling for a time.

Children's issues are very important to me and I have experience volunteering as a Guardian ad Litem within the court system. This experience opened my eyes to the needs of children. I cannot teach them unless their needs are being met.Our class will be a safe place where they can learn and progress by bounds and bounds. Therefore, I require a hug (if they are comfortable) when they come to school each day and leave each day. Please know that your children are going to be cared for and guided to achieve their goals. Please allow them to develop independence as this year will be a year of much growth academically and socially.

I can't wait to begin.

Educationally Yours,

Dana Gibson
