The computer technology curriculum for students in grades 3-5 consists of three standards:

  • Students will learn how to properly operate the computer hardware.
  • Students will experience and be able to demonstrate tasks particular to word processing, keyboarding, computer presentations, coding and robotics, and use of research tools and technology resources for problem solving and decision-making.
  • Students will begin to appreciate the responsibility that comes with the use of technology and its effects on society and the individual.

These standards will be met through a keyboarding unit and a series of projects that combine classroom curriculum and computer learning.

Your child’s computer achievement grade will be based on project grades which will include an evaluation of their knowledge in using the computer, content and quality of their work, creativity, and the completion of projects in the given time allotment.  Your child’s effort grade will be based not only on effort, but also citizenship and work habits during computer class.

If your child is absent from computer class, he/she will miss work and will be behind the other students in the class. Missing work will affect your child’s computer class grade, so please make sure he/she contacts me to schedule a time to make up his/her workI am available in the morning from 8:00-8:30 (except Tuesday), and the computer lab will also be open on Thursdays during lunch recess from 12:50 to 1:15.
