T.V. Production

  This middle school elective is where students can get an introduction in broadcast production. Students will receive hands-on experience with a video camera and editing equipment. Students will learn to produce a daily news broadcast. News will be gathered in the community and prepared for broadcast. Students will write, produce, and broadcast productions as part of this course. 

Projects

The students will be taking part in more than just creating morning announcements for the school. They will also be creating original projects in small groups based off of a movies they have viewed in class, create a commercial for a new product, movie trailer, pda for the school, or other projects they will create with a group. 

Homework

There should never be homework for this class. The students will have ample time to complete their morning announcement task and their classwork. 

Grading 

There will be at least two grades given each week. The grades will be given for the student's journal, reading comprehension passage, morning announcement task, assignments entered into the Edmodo website. There also may be some grades given for participation when they work in their small groups or morning announcement tasks. 

Expectations

  • Students are expected to follow the rules established by the school.
  • I expect all students to give their best work in all areas. I expect the students to treat the each other with respect. 
  • Treat the school's equipment with care and to be responsible with it.
  • No food or drinks are allowed unless given to them by the teacher.
  • Work needs to be the original and to the best of the students abilities.
  • Cell phones need to be kept in their book bags and off.

My goal for this class. For all students to enjoy their time this semester learning the different tasks for the morning announcements and being creative while making new friends.  I want the students see that they all can be creative in some form or another.

Computers

  The purpose of this course is ot provide students with a variety of computer skills that will be useful throughout the remainder of their education and into their lives beyond the classroom. 

This class is an exploratory course for middle school students; an emphasis is placed on learning to use tools that will be most helpful as students complete work for other classes. The goal is to develop high level thinking skills and give the students the ability to use what they learn in real life applications. 

Projects

Students will be working on various projects using different computer programs. Some of the programs that they will use will be Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Students will be expected to create original projects written in their own words.

Homework

Students should not have to work on any of their projects at home because they are given ample time in class to finish them.

My goal for this class is for the students to become more knowledgeable in using the various computer programs. I want them to create new connections with their classmates and to increase in confidence when giving presentations
