Welcome to Mrs. Ruiz-Houston's classroom! It is going to be a very exciting year.

The primary objective of my courses is to provide an atmosphere, classroom, laboratory, qualified teacher, and the opportunity to learn about science and its applicability to real life. Your cooperation is essential to the accomplishment of this objective.

In Regular Physics, the students conduct field and laboratory investigations, use scientific methods during investigations, and make informed decisions using critical thinking and scientific problems solving. Students study a variety of topics that include: laws of motion; change within a physical systems and conservation of energy and momentum; forces; thermodynamics; characteristics and behavior of waves; and electricity. This course provides students with a conceptual framework, and factual knowledge, and analytical and scientific skills.

In Honors Biology, students will examine the major concepts of biological evolution; interdependence of organism; matter, energy, and organization in living systems; the cell; and the molecular basis of heredity. This course provides numerous opportunities for the student to develop science process skills, critical thinking and reading skills, graphical analysis skills, and an appreciation for the nature of science through inquiry-based learning experiences.

This website is where I have attempted to provide supplementary materials for the class. Are they perfect? Certainly not ! There is always room for improvement. However, I have attempted to provide videos & notes of concepts in my course. These can serve several purposes but overall they are for absent student and student who want additional help with the concepts. I hope they serve you well.
