Classroom Management

Positive Reinforcement

Behavior Tickets  When students are following the classroom rules and/or generally behaving as they should, they can be rewarded with a good behavior ticket.   At the end of the day, each student will put their ticket inside a jar. I will choose one student to draw a name from the jar, and the student whose name is drawn will receive an surprise.

Quiet Seat     Every day, I secretly select a student to be the Quiet Seat.  At the end of the day, if the student has been well-behaved and hard-working, I reveal the Quiet Seat and reward him or her with a good behavior ticket.  If, on the other hand, the Quiet Seat did not follow the classroom rules during the day, a ticket is not earned and his or her identity is kept a secret.

Big Apple  Students who follow the class rules earn their name on the big green apple that is displayed in the classroom.  Any student who breaks a rule will have to move their name to the yellow apple. If a student has to be warned a second time then he/or she will have to move their name on the red apple. This will result in serious consequences, such as, a phone call to parents/guardians, loss of recess, or sent to the office for suspension.
