Welcome to the 2009-2010 School Year!

Hello~~My name is Ms. Calton. I am excited about being your child's reading teaching this semester.   This is my 17th year teaching, but only my second year at Clermont Middle School.  Before teaching here, I was at Minneola Elementary for fifteen years where I taught kindergarten, first grade and third grade.  I know what you're thinking......big change!  You're right, it was a big change for me, but I have enjoyed every single minute of it.  Having two middle school sons of my own, one in sixth and one in eighth, prepared me to enter the "middle school world", as some say.  Kaleb and Jordan keep me on my toes and are good practice for my every  day occupationSmile

If you're wondering why reading is considered an enrichment class at Clermont Middle School, let me explain.  Most  middle schools in Lake County offer Reading and Language Arts as one combined class that is titled "Language Arts".  However, Clermont Middle decided that they wanted the students here to have an advantage over most by allowing the students to receive a little more than required.  So, as a result, Reading is being offered as a required  enrichment for one semester.  After that, your child will be taking a different enrichment such as P.E., Art, Ag., etc.

Open House is schedule for Tuesday, September 15th.  I look forward to meeting all of you at that time!

Please e-mail me with any questions or concerns that you may have
