How is my child identified as an English Language Learner?

-  When registering for school all Broward County students k-12 are required to complete the Home Language Survey. The survey asks the following 3 questions:

1. Is a language other than English used in the home?

2. Does the student have a first language other than English?

3. Does the student most frequently speak a language other than English?

If a parent answers yes to any of these 3 questions the child is identified as a student that needs to be tested to see if the student needs ESOL services.
