Parent letter!

Dear Families,

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Diaz, and I am honored to be your child’s Second grade teacher for the 2009-2010 school year at Lincoln Marti Charter School (Hialeah Campus).

I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching their full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead.

I believe that communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note or call me at 305-827-8080. I will also do my part by contacting you by phone or by sending a note home. It is definitely in your child’s best interest that we, parents and teachers, work as a team. Also, please keep in mind that school will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and the children will be dismissed outside at 2:30 p.m.

In addition, I feel that home learning (homework) is a very important part of the total school program. If there are any questions regarding the homework please make a note, and I will reply or provide extra assistance. The most important part is that your child makes the intent to complete it on its own. Homework will be a review of skills covered in class, so it’s a great time for you the parent to notice if the child understood the skill or still needs extra support. Home learning will be assigned and checked on a daily basis. Parents are responsible for signing on a daily basis their child's home learning log. Failure to turn in home learning will result in time out from recess for that day. Also, students who fail to complete three or more assigned home learning assignments for the week will require a parent/teacher conference.

I am looking forward to a wonderful and exciting year with you and your child!

Ms. Diaz
