I wa
s born in Hartford, CT and lived in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts before I even really began school! My family moved to Michigan just before I entered 1st grade, and that is where I grew up. I have also lived in Arizona, where I graduated with a BA in elementary education and Texas, where I began my teaching career.
This is my third year at Pine View, but it will be my 25th year teaching. I started my career teaching 3rd grade in Texas. After 2 years, I decided to move home to Michigan and taught 3rd and then 2nd grade in Detroit. For the following 17 years, I taught in a small rural community in Michigan. I spent my first year there teaching kindergarten in the mornings and 5th grade social studies and writing in the afternoons. I then spent 12 years teaching second grade and 5 years teaching 5th grade before moving to FL in 2017.
When I am not teaching or planning awesome things for us to do in the classroom, I can be found reading, working on my art, educating about essential oils, learning about things that interest me, pet sititing, and spending time with family and friends. I also love to travel whenever possible. My favorite trip was a cruise to Greece, Turkey, Israel, and Egypt.
