Meet your teacher - Ms. Rowley
This will be my fifth year teaching Kindergarten in Arlington! I have also taught preschool, first grade, and second grade. My college background is in Child Development and I have my Early Childhood teaching license. Kindergarten is a year of tremendous growth both socially and academically. Our classroom is involved in the 2nd year of a pilot program which explicitly teachs executive functioning skills called, Tools of the Mind. http://www.mscd.edu/extendedcampus/toolsofthemind/ Although the research has so far been inconclusive I believe the approach is very age appropriate and teaches children how to become invested in their own learning!
A few things you should know about me:
- I am originally from VT and love to play outside, in all types of weather! Please come to school prepared to play outside, rain gear and snow gear encouraged!
- I try to recycle/reuse as much as possible, so free draw is often done on recycled paper.
- I have a medium haired, black and white cat named Furby.
- I am a soccer referee for youth and adults in the fall and spring.
