Online Economics & Personal Finance (EPF) through Longwood University - Informational Flyer

Who: Rising 9-12th grade students (For students in grades 9 or 10, a GPA of 2.75 or a GPA of 2.5 plus an acceptable level of math is required.)

Summer Session June 21 – July 16, 2021

*This dual-enrollment course is completely online and students may work ahead, however must complete all assignments by posted deadlines.

Economics and Personal Finance is a 4-week rigorous and mathematically intensive course covering economics and personal finance that may require students to spend up to 6 hours per day in order to be successful. The course satisfies the state’s economics and personal finance requirement as well as the online experience and certification requirements for high school graduation. The W!SE Financial Literacy Certification exam is administered in the course. Students will receive 3 hours of college credit for this class.

Required course text: Personal Finance, Turning Money Into Wealth, 7th edition (an earlier edition can be purchased for cost savings) 

Required course calculator: Any graphing or financial calculator (Texas Instruments BAII+ is recommended).

After you sign-up, our school’s Registrar Dawn Gallmeyer will register your student for Virtual Virginia.

Who: Self-motivated and task-driven students in rising 8-12th grades who are driven to spend 4-6 hours per day working online may register to take one of the following courses for acceleration

  • Spanish I, II, or III
  • French I, II,or III
  • Latin I or II

Who: Self-motivated and task-driven students in rising 9-12th grades who have met prerequisites and are driven to spend 4-6 hours per day working online may register to take one of the following courses for acceleration

  • Geometry 

  • Earth Science

  • World History I

  • Economics & Personal Finance (EPF)
