Acceleration Courses - Summer Options
Who: Rising 9-12th grade students (For rising 9th-12th graders, who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have completed at least the level of Algebra I.)
Summer Session June 24 – July 27, 2024
* This dual-enrollment course is completely online and students may work ahead, however must complete all assignments by posted deadlines.
* Students are required to take their final exam on Longwood University's campus.

- Economics & Personal Finance is a 4-week, rigorous, mathematically intensive course covering economics and personal finance that may require students to spend up to 6 hours daily to succeed. The course satisfies the state's economics and personal finance requirement and the online experience certification requirements for high school graduation. The W!SE Financial Literacy Certification exam is administered in the course. Students will receive 3 hours of college credit for successfully completing this class.
- Required course text - “Personal Finance: Turning Money into Wealth” 7th edition, Arthur Keown, 6th edition (Print or eBook)
- Required course calculator: Any graphing or financial calculator (Texas Instruments - BAII Plus recommended)
Who: Self-motivated and task-driven students in rising 8th grade who are driven to spend 4-6 hours per day working online may register to take one of the following courses for acceleration:

- French I
Who: Self-motivated and task-driven students in rising 9th grade who have met prerequisites and are driven to spend 4-6 hours per day working online may register to take one of the following courses for acceleration:
Summer Cohort I:
- Algebra I
- Geometry
- Algebra II
- Earth Science
- Economics & Personal Finance (EPF)
- Health & PE 9 (not driver's education) - (this is not an NCAA approved course)
Summer Cohort 2:
- Algebra I
- Geometry
- Algebra II
- Earth Science I
- World History and Geography I
- Spanish I, II or III
- French I, II, or III
- Economics & Personal Finance (EPF)
- Health/PE 9 - (this is not an NCAA approved course)
