Welcome to Title 1

The Title 1 program is a federal funded program that helps schools provide additional academic support to those who are struggling in the classroom.   We work with small groups of children, in both reading and math.  We offer additional support to the students within the classroom, where we work with them on classroom work, or any other activities that the classroom teacher assigns.  We also pull children out of class to provide additional "intensive" instructional support to the students.  We work on foundational skills identified by NWEA testing, teacher observations, DRA testing and classroom teacher recommendations.

Our Title 1 teacher consists of Mrs. LaGrois, Mrs, VanScooter, and Mr. Pedri. Mrs. LaGrois has been teaching children for the past 15 years.  She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Elemenetary Education at Wayne State University.  She received her Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University.  She has a General and Special Education Early Childhood Endorsement, and very close to finishing her Masters in Early Childhood Education.  Mrs. LaGrois is proud to be a Richmond graduate.  She has two adult children and two grand daughters.  In her free time, Mrs. LaGrois enjoys being outside, reading and crafts.  Mrs. VanScooter has worked in the title one department for the past 7 years.  Mr. Pedri is a Richmond graduate. He has been working in the title 1 department for the past 16 years.  He is very passionate about reading, and helping students develop a love for reading and learning.  In his free time, Mr. Pedri enjoys gardening and working on yardwork.
