Plant a garden, involve children in the process by writing down questions and observations in a garden journal.    

Plan a trip and have your child calculate the distance and the time it will take to get there.

Create a shopping list and have your child select the items and calculate the approxiamate cost.  Compare to final receipt.

Many children enjoy reading cartoons in the newspaper or looking at comic books. Work together with a child and create new ones to enjoy and share!                                                                                                                                                        

Visit your local public library for many fun activities you can complete together. If you can’t get to a library, visit one online!

After exploring newspapers, help children publish one of their own with the news of the neighborhood.

Encourage children to spend a little time thinking and writing about just what makes a hero and who their personal heroes might be.

After reading a book, help children create a comic book or cartoon version of major scenes from the story.
