My name is Sunny DéShay Oberto and I am originally from Baton Rouge, LA. My family moved to Mississippi when I was nine and then to Florida when I was twelve. At eighteen I moved back to Pearl, MS where I have called home ever since. I am happily married to my husband, Frankie Oberto, and we share two beautiful children. Sydney Laura is twelve and Laken Francis is four. We have three fur animals and just bought our new home this summer. We attend St. Jude Catholic Church and enjoy spending time with our friends and family. In my free time I enjoy reading, crafting, and being outside on beautiful days.
"Education is the most powerful weapon for changing the world." - Nelson Mendela
I began working with children in an after-school program when I was thirteen as a team leader. Seventeen years later, I still enjoy working with children and being their advocate. I attended Delta State University for my undergraduate degree. I graduated from Mississippi College with a 4.0 GPA in educational leadership. In 2014 I student taught a first grade class, in 2015 I began my teaching career as a 3rd grade teacher where I remained for a few years. In 2017 I had a calling to move to secondary education and I have taught secondary Social Studies and electives since then. I plan to continue my education and growing in order to service my students to the best of my ability.
