TheBookNut is a student-friendly booklist, designed to recommend some really awesome books.

Ever notice that when you go to the library, there seems to be way too many books -- so many it seems you'll never find one?  So, you look at all the covers, but they all look too girly or really boring or just not at all interesting?  Well, the Book Nut has a solution!  I have made it my mission to read as many good books as I can get my hands on, so you won't have to browse through the boring stuff!

Here's how it works:  Every time I read a new book, I'm going to write a review about it on this page!  You'll find every book I read arranged according to it's Accellerated Reader color.  For those of you who don't know what those colors are, they may be arranged differently according to different schools.  But, in Accomack County, the colors range from the easiest reading level to the most difficult.  The colors are  RED, WHITE, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, ORANGE, BLACK.  Red is the easiest, and Black is the hardest.  Just because something is easier or harder than your reading level DOESN'T MEAN YOU SHOULDN'T TRY READING IT!

What's Happened So Far...

A young boy named Reynie lives in an orphanage in Stonetown.  He is very smart, but the orphanage director doesn't want to send him to a special school where he can learn great things.  One day, Reynie sees an ad in the newspaper (what 11-year-old boy reads the newspaper?!) that says "Are you a gifted child looking for special opportunities?"  All he has to do to get these special opportunities is take a special test.  The test Reynie has to pass is more difficult than anything he has tried to do before.  One of the very first questions on the test reads:

The terriroties of the Naxcavian Autonomous Republic and the Nagorno-Karabakh region are disputed by what two countries?

Well how in the world is anyone supposed to know that?  But Reynie figures out that the test is really a puzzle and in order to pass, he has to put that puzzle together!  Reynie passes a series of very similarly odd tests, along with three other children, and eventually they are taken to a strange mansion with a giant maze that takes up the entire downstairs floor!  The children finally meet the man responsible for the tests.  Mr. Benedict.  He tells Reynie and the others that he really needs their help.  He says he needs these very gifted children to go on a dangerous mission for him -- one that could kill them!

I haven't figured out yet whether or not the children will accept the dangerous mission, or even what the mission is about.  Why is it so dangerous?  Why does it require children instead of adults?  But I'll find out!  And when I do, you'll be the first to know!
