December 3 @ 1048 am:  Long Nights Moon.  December's Full Moon.  This is a good time for spiritual alchemy - time to evaluate your life, and to know that

you will survive the dark times.  if you've already put the darkness behind you, take your good fortune and share it with others.

December 5:  Krampusnacht.  This is the day to celebrate Krampus, a Bavarian figure who is the complete opposite from Santa Claus.

December 21:  Yule.  For more traditions and Yule magick, go to:  This is the Winter Solstice in the

northern hemisphere.  An amazing thing will happen in the sky:  the earth's axis will tilt away from the Sun and the Sun will reach its greatest distance

from the equatorial plane.  Many cultures in fact have "celebrations of light".  The most important part of any Yule celebration are candles, bonfires, etc.  Traditional

customs such as the Yule log, the decorated tree, and wassailing (caroling) can all be traced back to Norse origins.  Some cultures celebrate this time as long as 12 days.

December 23:  the Celtic tree month of Birch begins.  Until January 20.  This is a time for rebirth and regeneration.  As the Solstice passes, it is time to look towards

the light once more.  When a forested area burns down, the Birch is the first tree to grow back.  The Celtic name for this month is Beth.  Workings done during

this month should add a bit of momentum and a bit of "oomph" to new endeavors.  The Birch is also associated with magick done regarding creativity

and fertility, as well as healing and protection.  You could tie a red ribbon around the trunk of a Birch tree to ward off any negative energy, or use Birch bark

as a magickal parchment to keep writings safe.
