About Me

Ms. Zelda Renee' Smith-Johnson

I was born in Dover Delaware and partly raised in New Orleans Louisiana. I am a mother of two adult children and a grandmother of three. I am a former Drill Sergeant, Retired Army Combat Veteran, and I have a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. It was during my time as a Drill SGT that I realized that I had a passion for teaching. I also remembered how I struggled with math. My bearer with math was the fact that I am a visual hands on learner. It was not until I went to college and had the opportunity to have a professor who taught using visuals and hands-on activities, that I realized I was actually a GREAT math student. As a teacher, I want to be able to give my students the same gift that was given to me, a chance to learn and excel based on how they learn and retain information. The beauty of math is the fact that there is always more than one way to solve a problem. Lastly, I truly love teaching MATH, and I look forward to us having a GREAT school year.
