Textbook Title: Visions, Elements of Literature

Tutorials: Tuesdays, Thursdays 3:30-4:30

 

Department Philosophy: It is the primary goal of the Cross Keys English Department to increase literary skills and writing competency for all students. To this end, we emphasize the importance of critical thinking and fluency in the expression of ideas, whether spoken or written. It is our hope that our students and faculty learn to appreciate the rich cultural diversity that identifies our school as the one of the most distinguished in Georgia, something that makes us proud.  

 

Course Description: This literature and composition course is designed for ESOL students as a year long, SIOP based course. Students will read, analyze, and write both fiction and nonfiction in a variety of genres while studying grammar and practicing listening and speaking skills. Students will also master reading strategies that will help them succeed in all academic areas.

Required Materials: paper, a composition book, blue or black pens, pencils, eraser, and a small pencil sharpener

 

Classroom Expectations: Students are expected to follow all school and classroom rules at all times and are expected to come prepared each day.

 

Late Assignments: Ten points will be deducted each day an assignment is late.

 

Make-up Policy: Students may take one day to make up missed work for each day missed.

 

Re-do Policy: Students will have the opportunity to redo any work below an A for a higher grade and will be expected to redo all unsatisfactory work.
