AOL Webmail Basic Version: How to Use It

American Global Internet Services, formerly known as America Online, offers AOL Webmail Basic is an email service. Webmail Basic has added capabilities like the ability to import contacts, forward emails from prior accounts, and even notify users' contacts of their new email address automatically. These new capabilities make it easier for customers to change email services without losing important emails or contact information.

Sign in to AOL Webmail using your AOL username and password at the basic website. Check the number of messages next to the envelope on the top page to see how many unread emails you have in your inbox.

To read your emails, go to your inbox and click the number. Unread emails are displayed in bold font, whilst read emails are not. To view a message, click it, and to read longer emails, scroll down to the bottom of the screen.

Respond to emails by pressing the "Reply" button and writing a response to the email. To send the email to a different recipient, press "Forward" and add a contact to the "To" area. To completely remove the email from your inbox, click "Delete." If the email contains a solicitation that you did not agree to receive, click "Spam."

Sending an Email

On the left side of the AOL mail webpage, click the drop-down box next to "Compose" to send an email. In the "To" field, type the recipient's email address or click the word "To" to select a person from your address book.

Fill in the "Subject" field with words, and then click on the email's main body. If desired, using the editing tools to type your email.

Once the email is finished, go to the top bar and click "Spelling" to double-check the spelling. Select "Save Draft" to save the email for later completion, "Cancel" to cancel the email, or "Send" to send the email to the recipient.
