The 8th grade Algebra class finished their first chapter on Variables , Graphs, and Introduction to Functions. They did a general review of variables, expressions and simplifying. The students looked at the set of Real Numbers and the subsets of Rational Numbers and Integers. The chapter continued with a review of graphing ordered pairs in coordinate plane. The students were introduced to a scatterplot to determine a correlation between two sets of data. This lesson led to the introduction of patterns and as well as reading and writing a function rule. The chapter concluded with a review of Measures of Central Tendencies (mean, median, mode, range and outlier). A test concluded the chapter on Sept. 27. The class has begun Chapter 2 with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing rational numbers.
