Reading logs

Here's a new page, just for you! laugh Reading logs are due once per week, usually on Mondays.  Students need to read the designated pages below.  6th grade follows 6th grade prompts and 8th grade follows 8th grade prompts.  This is a very important homework assignment.  Please make sure to start reading early in the week as to not become overwhelmed on Sunday night.  Suggestion:  read 10 pages per night!!!!!  Choose a book you like - remember it is your PERSONAL CHOICE.  cool

March “Madness” Personal Choice Log Prompts - 6th

·        Read 60-65 pages per week

·        Respond in paragraph form with page range and date at the top of your paper

·        Logs should be written neatly

·        Should be at least 15 sentences.

·        Signed by parent

·        Keep in binder labeled in a section called “Personal Choice Log”

·        Be sure to indicate page numbers after ALL QUOTES  - (p.5).

1.     Due – Mon. 3/5.  Choose your favorite minor character and least favorite minor character (any character other than main character of novel).  Discuss that character and his/her traits.  Cite evidence.

2.     Due Mon. 3/12. What inferences/predictions can you make regarding the events in these pages?  What do you think may happen later?  Cite evidence from your novel to support.

3.     Due Mon. 3/19. Choose unfamiliar words in your 65 pages.  What do you think they mean within the context (use context clues)?  Give evidence to support how you came up with the meaning.

4.  Due Mon. 3/26.  Find challenges your character has overcome?  What are those challenges?  Give evidence to support.

2.     Due Mon. 3/12. What inferences can you make regarding the events in these pages?  What do you think may happen later?  Cite evidence from your novel to support.

3.     Due Mon. 3/19. What is the tone of the pages in which you read?  Use your tone reference sheet.  Has the tone changed or has it stayed the same?  Give evidence from the text to support your answer.
