About Me

Welcome! I am very excited to be teaching you all. My name is Alex Seifans and I am a math teacher for middle school. I am a high school graduate of American Sr. High. After high school I enlisted in the Navy where I had the honor to served my country. After four years in the Navy I went back to school and became a college graduate from Florida International University where I obtained my bachelors and master’s degree in economics with a specialty in International Trade and Econometrics. After graduating I entered the workforce where I spent over 25 years in the private sector in middle management. I have always felt a calling to help teach and mentor young people, so I made the decision to leave management. Now, I have embarked upon a new career path in teaching to pass on my knowledge and experience to students to help better prepare themselves for a better and brighter future.

Beyond my professional life, I am so lucky to have married my college sweet heart Lyana, who is a speech language pathologist. I have two wonderful kids Alexander and Katie. My son is now an aerospace engineer working for NASA and my daughter is working toward her bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering as well.

I am a self-proclaimed math nerd but I understand that many students enter my classroom with a not-so-favorable view of math. I know it can be a challenging subject for many students. In fact, I also struggled with math in high school. My goal for every student who enters my class is that they become better problem solvers.  Even if they don't learn every math concept, the ability to analyze and solve problems will carry with them throughout their lives; so, when students ask "When am I ever going to use this?", my answer is "We're learning problem solving and you will use that for the rest of your life!"

I am looking forward to a great year with an awesome group of students!  Again, I welcome all of you, especially those of you who are new to our district. I know we are going to have a fantastic year!
