Welcome to Second Grade!
The Bickel Bulletin
New Items for this Week: September 27-Oct.1
Dear Parents and Students,
I can't believe we are into the last week of September. It was wonderful meeting all the parents this week at curriculum night. If you could not make it, I have kept the attached slide presentation below and please contact me if you have any questions.
I just have 2 absent students to complete their directed reading assessment and then we will be all set to start our home reading program. Next week I will be sending home a home reading bag and log sheet for at home reading.
Next week, Wednesday September 29 is picture day! Also we will be completing the math section of i-ready.
I sent home the homework math book to keep at home to complete as directed in the website "Bickel Bulletin" on educatorpages.com. Please follow in the homework section of this website for what homework lessons will need to be turned in when. Each lesson has a follow up homework lesson to be completed at home. The backside of each homework page is a review page that is your choice if you would like your child to complete that page. Then the homework page can be turned in the following day to school after completion.
If anyone is interested in donations we are in need of more pencils, and small trinkets like art supplies, small toys, and small notebooks for our Bickel Buck Auction box. These items are on my grocery list, but just thought I would also send a shout out!! Thanks for all you do!!
Next week, we will begin our next Social Studies unit: What is a community? and The Three Community Types: Urban, Rural and Suburb
We will begin some introduction Reader's and Writer's workshop lessons next week. We will also be decorating our Writer's Workshop folders with pictures of family and friends. If possible please send in a few pics of the kiddos with their friends and family to glue to their folder. Thanks in advance for your time and patience.
Next week we will also start our Phonics lessons with a focus on beginning and ending blends, silent e, making words and playing Guess My Rule to spotlight different spellings.
