PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention Support
Memphis City Schools has adopted a discipline plan designed to encourage our students to develop lifelong skills of achievement and positive character traits.
We at Treadwell Elementary are excited about encouraging students to exhibit qualities of a good citizen. One of the ways we will teach this is through a Responsive Classroom setting. Five particularly important skills are C- cooperation, A- assertion, R-responsibility, E- empathy, and S- self-control. I am excited about the plan and look forward to encouraging your child to make good decisions.
High Five Rules for KK 01
- Be respectful.
- Be responsible.
- Be here – Be ready.
- Follow directions.
- Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
If your child follows these 5 rules, we will have a wonderful year. I believe in acknowledging students that do as they are supposed to. Rewards include but are not limited to stickers, certificates, treats, and note or phone calls to the parent.
If your child chooses to not follow the rules, conduct will be changed. Everyone starts the day with EE (exceeds expectations). This EE can change to ME (meets expectations) or NME (not meeting expectations) depending on your child’s behavior. Students will have a conference with me after they have moved their clip to an ME warning. Other consequences include loss of free time, note or phone call to parent, or a visit to the office. If constant disruptive behavior continues, we (parent, child, and teacher) will meet to discuss the problem.
There are a few behaviors that will not be tolerated in KK 01 – fighting, disrespecting a fellow student or adult, trashing the bathroom, or throwing food in the cafeteria. These behaviors will require your child’s behavior clip be moved automatically to NME.
I know this sounds like a lot but I need your support to make your child’s and their fellow classmates school year a positive success. I look forward to working with you and hope that your child’s kindergarten experience will be a positive and productive year. Thank you for all that you do.
