Behavior Plan

In fourth grade, students will be expected to follow the school wide behavior plan.  Everyone at Carver (students, teachers, staff, and visitors) are expected to be safe, responsible, and respectful in order to create a school in which learning and success may occur for everyone.  Please visit the Carver Behavior Expectations section of this website for further information on what is considered appropriate behavior at Carver.

Reflection sheets are a critical component of the home school connection in regards to PBS.  These sheets not only inform parents and guardians about the actions of their child at school; but they also provide students with a way to think about their actions deeply and give them the opportunity to create a positive, alternative plan to deal with similar situations they may face in the future.  When a child receives a reflection sheet at school, they will work with the teacher to write down what problematic behavior occured.  They will then take their sheet home, and discuss with a guardian the inappropriate behavior, brainstorm alternative actions, and discuss possible consequences for continuing the behavior.  The student and guardian will then complete the reflection sheet and return it to school the following day.

The following behavior plan will be followed, for every student in the building, if a student is having difficulites displaying appropriate behavior.

Step One: Student will recieve a verbal warning to stop the inappropriate behavior, the student will remain on green.

Step Two: The student will move their clip to yellow, will conference with the teacher about the inappropriate behavior and will complete the top portion of a reflection sheet.  The reflection sheet will be taken home to be completed and should be returned to school the following day.

Step Three: The student will move their clip to orange, will conference with the teacher about the inappropriate behavior and will complete the top portion of a second reflection sheet.   The student will then call home and discuss the behavior with a guardian.  The student will then take a 5-10 minute time out in the buddy room.  The reflection sheet will be taken home to be completed and should be returned to school the following day.

Step Four: The student will move their clip to red, will conference with the teacher about the inappropriate behavior and will complete the top portion of a third reflection sheet.   The student will then go to the office and receive an office referral.  The reflection sheet will be taken home to be completed and should be returned to school the following day.

In cases of extreme disruption, aggression, bullying, and non-compliance an immediate office referral may be made.

Students may also move their clips up to purple or teal when they are having an excellent day!!
