Element 2: The images above demonstrate how I used an engaging activity to get to know the interests and skills of the students in my class while teaching in China. As this was a foreign teaching experience, the activity also allowed me to judge whether my teaching style and techniques, and my overall pedagogy, would be appropriate in teaching these students.
Element 2: The activity shown below was also used during my teaching experience in China. The task allowed students to draw on their own cultural expertise and bring this knowledge to the classroom. Although my purpose was to develop the students’ English skills, this task would not have been as engaging and meaningful if the students had not been able to draw on their cultural knowledge and make comparisons.
